Orlando holidays - any tips
I am planning a family holiday to Orlando for October 2016 and doing the research. Must admit that this is not my ideal choice of holiday but feel the time will be right for the kids (3 of them between 9 and 13) and I want them to have this experience. Looking to pack as much in as possible into the 2 weeks and would appreciate any tips from those who have been. Any must dos or some don'ts?

I'm not being funny but it really is down to what your family wants to do . My boys preferred universal to Disney but if you ask someone else they'll tell you the opposite. One park that is worth a visit is bush gardens , you can get a free coach to take you there and it's a bit different to the other parks. Other than that, eat like a pig, shop till you drop and enjoy the theme parks. Oh and gator world is worth a visit too.

Just come back.

Storms every couple of days. Don't last long but it caused a 6 hour delay on our flight home.

Other than that August was Fing hot. Enjoy.

October is ideal weather wise, nice and warm, but not too hot like June-September.
Parks will still be busy, but queues for the rides will not be too bad. Buy your tickets before you go, they are cheaper.
Eating out can be as cheap or as dear as you want it to be, but you will get big portions! Food in the parks is dear, as are all the gifts.
We have always had a great time when we go, young kids love it!

Make sure you learn some American before you go.

Tomsdad, agree with the ideal time to go, both times we've been we went in January , it was in the 70's and you didn't have to queue for the rides. I would imagine going in August with the weather being in the high 80's and massive queues for the rides could be a nightmare.

Get your park tickets from undercover tourist.

Have a meal in Le cellier at Epcot.

Go to Hard Rock Cafe, if you stay at the hard rock hotel you get fast passes for universal free.

If you want a villa and flights book through kenwood travel.

chili's bar and grill on international drive. I love that place

Kids of that age will love Universal. Lots of decent places down International Drive, wonderworks is good, from the front it looks like an upside down house and has plenty of interest things in there. You can buy a ticket which gets you in and also you get to see a reasonably funny magic show with unlimited pizza and drinks, wasn't that expensive either.
Loads of crazy golf around there and try Fun Spot and Kissimmee old town on the US192. Fun spot is a mini park with some decent go carts for the kids and Kissimmee old town has some car parades on a Saturday Night.
Daytona beach along with Sarasota beach are very good.
You'll have a better time yourself than you think you will.

Absolute ideal age.
Rent a villa with a pool which all but the cheapest come with.
Go to Kennedy Space Centre even if the kids don't want to at first.
Lastly, and most importantly, find the money for fast track tickets in the various parks. The difference is 10mins v an hour for the more popular rides. All day every day.

If you can afford it, get a transfer from the airport and stay in one of the Disney or Universal hotels. Not cheap but means you don't need a car as you can use the resorts own transport to get to & from the parks.
Also, you get other perks like additional park hours or complimentary Fast Passes.

Have been twice took my 4 boys, as somebody else said Busch gardens is excellent, Universal is a must in my opinion, the Epcot centre we all enjoyed , hired a vehicle very cheap and driving is quite relaxed. Got my tickets from https://www.travelrepublic.co.uk/attractions/
Took a ride and a swim at Daytona Beach, you can drive your car on to the beach
Hard Rock cafe is excellent, make sure you get good insurance you will have an excellent time.
Good Luck and hope you have a good time.

Re: Orlando holidays - any tips
Been there 3 times in October and walked straight on many of the rides.
If you can would suggest going early to mid October where flights are a bit more cheaper.
The kids should be tall enough for all the rides which is more of a problem at Uni and Busch.
For how much this holiday will cost you, you all will never forget it and talk about it years later still.
Essential -a camcorder to capture all those special moments forever so you can relive whenever you want.

Excellent holiday to be had in Orlando. If you can, visit the town of 'Celebration' too among many other things.

went last year just me and the missus. we are in our mid 50's now but stuck to the formula we used when taking the kids back in the 90's.
start the day in Sizzler or one of the other all you can eat breakfast restaurants then just need a burger for lunch getting maximum time in The Parks.
Get a World Pass or whatever they are called these days and don't ignore the water parks - Typhoon Lagoon was always our favourite.
Agree with other posters Busch Gardens is worth a visit and so is Kennedy for something slightly different.
If you can, combine with a week on the Gulf |Coast, Venice and Boca Grande (The Loose Caboose is a great restaurant) are 2 of our favourite places for a villa with pool and total relaxation.
Expect to return half a stone heavier. Enjoy!

Sizzler is a great call, went there in the 90s myself when a kid. I really enjoyed Seaworld when I went. Universal Studios was also very good.
